Today, after helping my friend move, I went to akiba. I went there to see the live of IRON ATTACK!, IOSYS and 5150 that started at 18:00, but I got there around 13:00 so I had time to walk around and take some nice pictures.
Sundays in Akihabara re "walkers heaven" where the streets are blocked to cars, so it's ideal for taking nice pictures of Akiba, and since I got my new Nexus 5 with KitKat, I was able to get some pretty sweet photo spheres of Akiba. you can check them both here: (but you'll need google + to see the sphere effect)
Photo Sphere in front of Animate and Toranoana
Photo sphere near the Akihabara Station
Of course a trip to Akiba would not be complete without a few Itasha:
I also met a nice Miku cosplayer in the Sega arcade who let me took a picture of her
At 5 I headed toward the Live's venue.
The venue was again pretty small, and it was completely packed.
Now one thing that can be a problem when you become a little more know is that it's harder to write what you want. I know some people might read this blog, that actually performed at the show, but I'm still gonna try to say what I think, even if there are some negative points.
I hope those concerned won't take it too badly, as this is only my personal opinion, based on my personal tastes.
Te show started with 5150, I was actually surprised to see he was only singing and didn't play the guitar, he had another guitarist with him there. It was kinda funny too, because when he introduced the band members, he almost introduced himself as "on the guitar". His performance was pretty good overall, but I actually didn't know many songs, I think he played only 1 song from the albums I have. And... I guess this is my own fault, but I never knew he did a black metal album, his growling voice really surprised me. I actually don't like that kind of music, so I didn't enjoy the last two songs, but I can still say that his growling voice was pretty good... well, for a growling voice.
After 5150 was IOSYS. The problem... or good point of IOSYS is that there's so many members, going to see IOSYS can be very different from one time to the other.
The last time I saw them (you can read about it here) the vocalist was 山本椛 (Momiji Yamamoto), this time it was 96. The rest of the band was pretty much the same lineup as last time.
But a different vocalist means different songs (except for a couple). 96 have her own songs, and Momiji has her own, so of course that's to be expected. 96 was pretty good on stage, and has a cute voice, but her stage presence and energy is nowhere close to Momiji's. It was especially apparent in the 2 songs she did, that Momiji also did, 断罪ヤマザナドゥ!(Danzai) and Chirno's perfect Math class.
And don't get me wrong here, I believe 96 is a good singer, but Momiji was just a lot better.
It was still a nice performance, and Cirno's perfect math class was again the highlight of the show. Though Miracle, Hinacle was also pretty good.
Last was IRON ATTACK!
For those who knows the bad, on CD they have a lot of vocalist, but usually live it'S always Uma and まいなすいょん(minusiyon), but this time a third singer was also present. I think it was YAMA-B, but I'm not 100% sure.
They were solid as usual, but I think the best surprise is they played a song by Sister's spread-i (まいなすいょん's circle) ALICE IN HEAVEN. And I love that song, I was really glad they did it.
And Ion was really cute in her stage outfit, but sorry I didn't get any pictures this time.
I guess the negative point of the show was they they didn't do any Marisa song (Sparking or STAR DUST) I really love those songs, but at least they did a couple of other really good ones, and a few new ones that I knew a little less.
Overall a very good show, and a very good day.
Akihabara is the best!

Raitaisai 10 report (late!)
It's been more than a week since Reitaisai, but here's my report. So far from all the events I've been I think it's the second biggest after Comiket. It's a little bigger than Wonder festival... I think, but they are very close in size.
For those who don't know what Reitaisai is, it's a Touhou Project only event. It's like the Comiket, but with works that are inspired from Touhou only.
I went to this event with 2 friends from work. 1 of them just like events, but doesn't really know Touhou, but he decided to tag along anyway.
We got there about an hour before the opening time, so we had to wait in line. It was a really huge line, while not quite as huge as the Comiket one.
The line actually started moving about 15 minutes after the official start time. Our first target was the Demo of Touhou 14, and ZUN's table. As expected, this line was very long. I'm kinda sad they separated TH13.5 and TH14 line, so if you wanted both, you needed to line up twice. This made me give up on Th13.5.
While lining up for Th14, we got to see some pretty nice Itasha. I specially liked the Remilia convertible. You can see them all in this album here: Reitaisai10Itasha, but here are my favorite ones.
I'm definitely making one when I buy my next car.
After getting the new Touhou game, we went to all the circles I wanted to visit/buy from. My loot was pretty nice this time.
I got to speak with IRON CHINO quite a bit again. He told me he's gonna have another Live this summer, can't wait!
After buying everything we needed, we went to take some pictures of the cosplay space, you can see all the pics here:Reitaisai10Cosplay but here are my favourites:
My favourite was this Marisa, she's really nice
I still didn't finish listening to all my Reitaisai purchases (I actually have some left from M3 too) but so far I can tell you that at least these two album stands out from the lot:

Awesome Week-end in Tokyo!
This weekend I finally really started "Living The Dream", I finally started doing what I came here to do, and that means, enjoy what only Japan can offer!
Saturday there was a Live concert from IRON-ATTACK!, IOSYS and HALOZY + Digital Wings in Shibuya. I bought the ticket a while ago, and while I expected it to be great, it was probably better than I expected!
First up were Halozy + Digital Wings + 3L.
At first they were... not interesting, The Male Vocalist and Keytard player just seemed... not into it so much, Momo, the lead female vocalist seemed like she was really inexperienced and probably ... shy? After 2 ou 3 song, they switched singer, the second singer was a lot better, less "kawaii" but she had a good voice and good scene presence. I also started noticing at that time one of the girl was doing Para-para of all their songs on the right side of the stage (I was on the left) It's a nice touch. After that They switched singer again and 3L came in. She's really impressive. She's really small and has a really good voice. Her style was a little extreme with a flower covering half of her face, but she was great. Later Momo came back on stage and I think she felt more secure with everyone there, and had more scene presence. The second part of their prestation was solid and I really enjoyed it.
Since the headliner of the show was IRON-ATTACK, I didn't expect this kind of music in a metal show, but I like it anyway so it was fine!
Second up was IOSYS, and this is the part that surprised me the most. Since it was a metal show I was pretty much expecting to see Minami doing only instrumental songs from his metal albums, but no! They did a lot of classic and popular song by IOSYS, mostly metal and rock, but all Vocal arranges. They had 山本椛 (Momiji Yamamoto) there to do the Vocals. She is wonderful on stage. That's what I call stage presence! she played with the crowd, answered our calls and spoke to us, she was just Awesome! On Guitar was void and of course Minami. Minami's tapping skills are really impressive, and he was just in face of me so I got to appreciate it from up close! The Bass was しんしん(shinshin), and there was unfortunately no drums, they were per-recorded. They played metalized versions of a lot of Popular IOSYS songs like 断罪ヤマザナドゥ!(Danzai), キャプテン・ムラサのケツアンカー (Captn murara's ass Anchor), 真夏にハジケるインドアヴァンパイア , and a really nice Metalized version of チルノのパーフェクトさんすう教室 (Cirno's perfect Math class) And this is where Momiji shined the most; usually this song is sang by Miko, but Momiji did it wonderfully, and her scene presence during that song was just incredible. Whenever the crowd was singing "BAKA! BAKA!" she was doing hand sings toward herself as if saying "come on! bring it to me! Call me baka!" and the she would do Cirno's answer with so much energy and charisma, it was ... AWESOME! (I need to find more words!).
I really feel bad that I forgot what other songs they played, and I knew and loved all the songs they played too, but I forgot =/.
They had an encore, but I think they really didn't expect it, so they told us, because they have no drummer, they have to play one of the songs with pre-recorded drums again, and made the crowd chose between Cirno's perfect Math Class or Captn Murasa's ass Anchor. It was split 50/50, but in the end they decided to play Captn Murasa's ass Anchor but with Minami doing some of the vocals.
IOSYS part was really awesome, and I was really pleased I finally got to see them live!
And finally came IRON-ATTACK!
I don't remember the name of every band members, sorry, but there was 2 vocalist, 勇舞(Isamu Mai, singer from Lightning) and まいなすいょん(minusiyon). While minusiyon was good on stage, Mai was just incredible, he literally owned the place. He has so much energy and power in his voice. He represent metal at it's best. On the guitar IRON-CHINO was just incredible. His shredding skills are on par with pretty much any other guitarist I've seen so far (that includes Guitarists from bands like Rhapsody, Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, Kamelot and a bunch of others).
They didn't play my favourite song (Into the shade) but they played a whole lot of their most popular songs. They started with Burn in Hell (the Title song of the Album this show was promoting) they did at least 2 of Marisas' songs (Sparking, Star Dust) or maybe more. Star Dust was the greatest moment of the Night for me, I love this song so much! They the encore was Poltergeist if I remember well, which was pretty epic too. The whole evening was really great!
After the show was over I got to speak with Chino, he's such a nice guy! He introduced me to Mai, but my lack of Japanese made it a little akward. I spoke quickly with Minami to congratulate him, and I tried to have a conversation with Momiji, but... god I need to get better at Japanese soon! She was really nice though, I think she understand my feelings ^^;
All this took place on an incredible 21 degree day in February!
This would have made my weekend awesome even if I slept all Sunday long... but I went to Comitia, a Doujinshi event for original works, with my new friend Jiyu. The best way to describe this event is... like a mini Comiket (around 1/6 of comiket's area, and only 1 days instead of 3) with only original works allowed, no fanart. While the event itself was nice, (and made me waste way too much money) the greatest thing was that I got to meet and speak to Renji "Range" Murata. This guy is my favourite artist. I love his drawing so much! For those of you who don't know him... SHAME ON YOU!
...
He did among other things the character designs of Last Exile and Shangri-La, please visit his website http://www.pseweb.com/
I bought his latest book "Long Voyage" and posters and he signed it for me!
He's also a really nice guy... everyone is nice :D
Here's a pic of my Comitia loot:
And that's pretty much it for my weekend.
Next week is Wonder Festival!

Comiket 83
From December 29 to 31, it was Comiket 83 at Tokyo big sight. For those of you who may not know what Comiket is, shame on you!
Comiket is the biggest most impressive gathering of Otaku there is. It last 3 days and happens twice a year. It's like an Anime convention, but it's mostly a super gigantic dealers room with an even bigger artist alley. There's also a space for cosplayer, but unfortunately it's way too small for the people there is.
You go to Comiket mainly to buy Doujinshi, Doujin albums, or Doujin goods. Which are comics, music or goods made by fans about their favourite Anime/game/Manga/other. There's actually also a bunch of original stuff. There's also the corporate booths which are a place to show upcoming games, goods, Anime or Manga, by the big companies. Here's how packed it can get:
You can see more from the corporate booths here: C83Day1
Day 1 of Comiket is mostly Yaoi stuff, Day 2 is mostly Touhou, and I didn't go to day 3 but it's supposed to be mostly original stuff from what I was told.
The greatest thing about the Comiket is that the people you buy the art/music/games is directly the people who made it. It gives a special feeling, you know there's no middle man, you're encouraging them directly, and you can tell them how much you love their work... if you can speak Japanese. Of course there's a lot of people so you don't have much time to speak with them, but most will take the time. IRON-CHINO is especially fun to speak to, and he knows English, which makes it easier. Koko from Innocent Key was really nice too this year, she talked to me a lot, she's so small :O , and her cute voice from the albums, it's actually her real normal voice.... KAWAIIII. Miko from IOSYS usually is someone else you can speak to, but she was only there on day 3 so I didn't see her. Being able to talk directly with them really makes this kind of events special!
I wasted a little more money than I should have, but it was great.
Now like I said there's also cosplay at Comiket, so I took a bunch of pictures, you can see them here:
Comiket 83 Day 1 Cosplay
Comiket 83 Day 2 Cosplay
I don't know if it's easy to see on these pictures how much there's an awful lack of space for cosplay, but it was really cramped.
The people are usually very nice, and are there to be taken picture of, so you usually don't have to worry, but it's important to be polite anyway. It doesn't matter if you don't speak Japanese, you only need 2 words, "Onegaishimasu" just before starting to take pictures, and "Arigatou gosaimasu" when you're done. Even if there's a big group of people taking pictures of the same person, say it anyway.
One big change I noticed this time was that weapons were allowed, which is the first time I see at Comiket. I don't know however if that's just for the winter Comiket or if it's the new rules.
I guess I'll be able to see during summer Comiket!
That concludes my Comiket report, if you have any questions about Comiket, comment here and I'll answer to the best of my knowledge!

Comiket 79 is coming up!
Comiket 79 is coming up pretty fast, lots of new albums, especially awesome collabs coming, IOSYS&TANO*C is up there on my list, but the Album that makes me impatient right now is Kimino-Museum's second episode of Viator de Memoria. God I can't wait... I still have this awesome feeling when I listen to the first one, I sure hope episode 2 will be up to my expectations!
My to get list:
[君の美術館] Viator de Memoria Episode II
[君の美術館] Black Rock Museum 2
[Albatrosicks] MERGE THE STRAWBERRY !
[IOSYS vs HARDCORE TANO*C] dont know album name but this will be awesome

Comiket day 3
More picture added, cosplay only this time, I only went 2 hours, the sun was burning me too much. I also went back to Akihabara, and bought one of the CD I couldnt get on Day 2.
It's my last day. Tomorow I take the plane back to Quebec. I don't want to, but oh well. I loved my trip, and I will surely come back... many times!
---

Reitaisai 7's release from Innocent Key, 東方セレブ (Touhou Celeb).
The preview videos for the album were great so I had been expecting this one for a while, but only crappy version was available on the web until yesterday. You can see the videos on the album's page on Innocent Key's website here.
The album in a whole is pretty average, most of the song are so~so and the engrish in some is simply awful, A handful l of song manage to save the album. Of course the two song from the videos, 東方格差社会 ~ウサビーズへようこそ!~ and 東方セレブ ~ABUNAI SISTERS~, are as good as they were on the videos, but Miko's and ARM's participation in the album is really what saves it for me. Miko's voice is as wonderful as always and still does the best Cirno around in the song 歌舞伎町の⑨イーン. While I don't know exactly where all the musics come from in ARM's mix, it's simply epic.
The surprise in this CD comes from track 9 however. the song 'Concealed.' probably has one of the best drums I've heard in any Touhou arrange album before. The guitar is pretty solid and the vocals are great. This track is probably worth a purchase by itself.
If you like IOSYS you'll probably enjoy the album, while not completely, the good tracks on it are really worth it.
8/10
also Miko's voice is awesomely awesome.

Hello everyone!
Hey everyone! it's been a while! I know I never update, but making a post just about the fact that I dont ost would be pretty pointless so here's some information.
With the recent CD hunt created by the hapenning of Reitaisai 7 last weekend, someone, I think it was on /jp/, said that we needed a wiki for doujin music. I agree, so I made one.
Anyone who think they can help you are welcome to come and edit stuff!
the adresse is doujinmusic.wikia.com
in other news, miko started a new solo project called Alternative Ending. She released her first album december 30, 2009. It's called 'Everlasting Snow'.
I'm a little late on that news, sorry.
Did not have time to listen to it a lot yet, so I can't make a review, but her voice is as wnderfull as ever.
I will post more updates on the wiki and the bunch of new albums relased at R7 later.

Lyrics, in romaji and kanji, of the extra song on Star Cracker.

Albatrosicks (アルバトロシクス)
I posted one of their song earlier, but who are they?
Albatrosicks is a band formed by pretty much the same people from IOSYS, except instead of doing remakes of songs from Touhou (or other game/anime) they make their own compositions.
I got to know the band because I was wondering why Miko was not singing on IOSYS' last albums. So someone pointed out to me that it was because she was doing this album of Albatrosicks.
Miko probably has the cutest voice in the world, so I needed to listen to Albatrosicks.
And I loved it!
Their last album "STAR CRACKER" Is simply wonderful. If you like IOSYS you're gonna like this too. Miko's voice is sublime as always, DR_ARM's mix are pretty much perfect, the drums are great and the guitar too. Countess YOUNO's lyric fits in just well, and the story, wich I dont fully understand yet considering no translations of their songs exist yet, seems to be good.
The Albatrosicks is a ship conducted by rebels you fight againts the evil アスモデウス (Asmodeus) empire, and liberate planets from their grip.
Pretty classic, but always interesting.
アスモデウス (Asmodeus), Key to Your Heart, Cosmo Phoenix and ひとつうえのおとこ (hitotsuu no otoko) are song you just have to listen to.
The last track of the CD is a special, out of the story song, and pretty much just fan service... and you know what? it's pure Genius. Miko's voice and fan service? what can I ask more?
9/10
their previous albums ('Planet Liberation' and 'E') are so far less interesting but still good. I was not able to get my hands on their first album yet so I can't comment on that one.

Albatrosicks - Key to Your Heart
Here are the Romaji and Kanji of the song.
Did it myself as I couldnt find a version of the lyrics anywhere on the web, but I had the booklet so I had to search for every kanji 1 by 1.
